Article Processing Charges (APC)

Insolvation follows a transparent publication-cost policy for accepted manuscripts.

Current APC position

No Article Processing Charge is currently being applied during the launch stage unless a charge is expressly displayed on this page before submission. If an APC is introduced, the amount, timing, waiver route, invoice process, tax treatment, refund position, and payment-firewall protection will be stated here in advance.

Why APCs may be charged

As an open-access journal, Insolvation does not rely on reader subscription revenue for access to published articles. Where APCs are introduced, they may support the accepted article's final publication steps, including editorial management and peer-review administration, similarity screening, copyediting and typesetting, DOI or identifier registration where applicable, hosting, metadata distribution, indexing support, and long-term preservation or archiving.

There are no submission fees. Any APC, if introduced, will apply only after acceptance and only according to the rate and terms displayed on this page at the relevant time.

When payment is considered

APCs, where applicable, are considered only after editorial acceptance. Submission, editorial screening, peer review, reviewer selection, revision handling, and final acceptance are not conditional on payment status. Editorial decisions remain independent of payment, waiver requests, author funding, or author ability to pay.

Invoices and payment

  • Where an APC applies, the acceptance email will include invoice and payment instructions.
  • By default, the corresponding author is invoiced, unless the author identifies an institutional payer, funder, sponsor, or other payer accepted by the journal.
  • Indian payers, where applicable, may be invoiced in INR. Payers outside India may be invoiced in USD or another currency stated on the invoice.
  • Any currency conversion, bank charge, processing fee, foreign-exchange fee, intermediary-bank fee, or payer-side transaction cost is borne by the payer unless the invoice expressly states otherwise.
  • Payment administration is handled separately from editorial decision-making.

Taxes

APCs are inclusive of applicable taxes where required or otherwise stated on the invoice. Taxes may be added, shown, or adjusted where required by law. The invoice will state the amount payable and any applicable tax treatment.

Refunds and billing corrections

  • Journal-caused withdrawal before publication: if an accepted article is withdrawn before publication due to a journal-side error or journal-caused reason after APC payment, the APC will be refunded in full.
  • Author-requested withdrawal after acceptance: after a manuscript has been accepted, author-requested withdrawal is not permitted except in exceptional circumstances approved by the journal. If an approved exception results in withdrawal after APC payment, any refund will be considered only where required by law or where the journal is at fault.
  • Post-publication corrections, expressions of concern, removals, or retractions: these are handled under the journal's editorial and ethics policies. APCs are not normally refunded after publication except where the journal is at fault.
  • Billing errors: duplicate payment, overpayment, wrong invoice amount, or other proven billing error will be corrected or refunded promptly after verification and proof of payment.
  • Failed or reversed transactions: bank-side reversals, failed transactions, chargebacks, or payer-bank deductions are handled according to payment evidence and banking records.

Waivers and discounts

Authors should read the Waiver Policy for automatic and discretionary waiver eligibility. If an APC is introduced, waiver or discount requests should be made according to the instructions then displayed by the journal. Financial constraints must not prevent meritorious scholarship from being considered for publication.

Editorial independence and payment firewall

Editors, peer reviewers, and editorial decision-makers are kept separate from APC payment, invoice, refund, and waiver processing. They do not use payment status, ability to pay, invoice status, refund status, or waiver requests as a factor in acceptance, rejection, review depth, reviewer selection, revision requests, scheduling, or any other editorial decision. Manuscripts are assessed on scholarly merit, scope fit, originality, methodological integrity, citation accuracy, ethical compliance, and contribution to the field.
